Church Trainings

We equip churches to step confidently into foster care and adoption ministry. Through biblical teaching, practical tools, and real-life insight, churches learn how to care well for vulnerable children and the families who serve them.

The Starting Block Curriculum

The Starting Block is designed to help churches, leaders, and individuals take their first intentional steps into caring for vulnerable children and families. It serves as a foundational on-ramp—building understanding, confidence, and vision for engaging in foster care, adoption, and family support through a gospel-centered lens.

Many churches care deeply about children and families but aren’t sure where to begin. The Starting Block removes barriers by providing a clear, approachable starting point. It empowers churches to move from compassion to action—without pressure, guilt, or unrealistic expectations.

The goal is not to ask everyone to foster or adopt, but to help everyone find a role in supporting vulnerable children and the families who care for them.

What Starting Block Does

The Starting Block creates a shared foundation by:

  • Introducing the heart, history, and purpose of foster care and adoption

  • Framing care for vulnerable children within a biblical perspective

  • Helping churches understand their unique role in supporting families

  • Moving participants from awareness to practical next steps

Who’s it For

The curriculum is intentionally designed for:

  • Pastors and church leaders

  • Ministry teams and volunteers

  • Churches beginning the conversation around foster care and family advocacy

No prior experience with foster care is required—just a willingness to learn and engage.

What’s Included

The Starting Block curriculum typically includes:

  • Teaching sessions that explore the foster care landscape and the why behind the need

  • Biblical foundations that root care for children and families in Scripture

  • Local data and context to help churches understand the needs in their own communities

  • Discussion prompts that invite reflection and honest conversation

  • Action-oriented pathways that help individuals and churches discern their next step

The Outcome

By the end of the Starting Block, participants:

  • Understand the foster care and adoption mission field more clearly

  • Feel equipped and encouraged

  • See tangible ways their church can respond

  • Are connected to next-step resources and ongoing support

Because every meaningful journey needs a strong starting point.
